Key Takeaways

Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen launched attacks on several Saudi cities, raising concerns about a broader Middle East conflict and potential disruptions to regional energy supplies. Meanwhile, investors remain cautious ahead of upcoming U.S. inflation data. Risk sentiment weighed on U.S. equities and gold overnight, while crude oil prices extended gains amid escalating geopolitical tensions.

Today’s Focus: Apple will hold its Fall Product Launch overnight. Market attention is centred on the company’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra. As Apple’s most significant design change in years, the device could influence not only Apple’s share price but also broader sentiment across the technology sector. However, investors are concerned that its premium pricing may weigh on demand and profit margins.

Markets Analysis 09/09/2026

  • Resistance: 1.1656 / 1.1673
  • Support: 1.1601 / 1.1583

EUR/USD edged higher in early Asian trading. Expectations of further ECB tightening continue to support the euro, while markets await comments from ECB President Lagarde ahead of tomorrow’s policy decision.

Analyst View: The pair found support near key daily moving averages yesterday, setting the stage for this morning’s rebound. Focus remains on a break above last week’s high, which could pave the way towards 1.1656/1.1673.

Bias: Moderately Bullish

  • Resistance: 1.3575 / 1.3599
  • Support: 1.3522 / 1.3498

Following BOE Governor Bailey’s comments on market rate-hike expectations, the pair could build momentum towards 1.3575/1.3599, while a loss of momentum and a dip below 1.3500 could lead to downside pressure.

Analyst View: The pair continues to trade within a narrow range around its 10- and 20-day moving averages. Consolidation may persist, with the ECB decision likely to provide indirect guidance.

Bias: Moderately Bullish

  • Resistance: 154.62 / 155.22
  • Support: 152.63 / 152.02

The yen remains near its strongest level since February. Japan’s Finance Minister reaffirmed that the currency stance remains unchanged and that close communication with U.S. officials will continue.

Analyst View: Despite recovering some losses late yesterday, USD/JPY resumed its decline this morning and remained below 154.00. Further consolidation within yesterday’s lower range is likely.

Bias: Consolidating Near Lows

  • Resistance: 95.37 / 95.90
  • Support: 93.67 / 93.16

Oil prices rose further after attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure heightened supply concerns and fears of a broader regional conflict.

Analyst View: WTI has broken above its late-July high. A sustained move above $95 could signal further upside potential.

Bias: Bullish

  • Resistance: 4424 / 4468
  • Support: 4282 / 4238

  • Resistance: 66.87 / 67.88
  • Support: 64.83 / 63.83

Rising oil prices have reinforced inflation and raised rate-hike concerns, pushing spot gold below the $4,400 level and to a four-day low.

Analyst View: After three consecutive declines, gold is attempting to stabilise ahead of the U.S. inflation report. However, gains may be capped by resistance near the 10-day moving average at around $4,426.

Bias: Vulnerable

  • Resistance: 53152 / 53530
  • Support: 52395 / 52023

U.S. equities retreated as elevated oil prices reignited inflation and interest-rate concerns, leaving the Dow near last week’s lows.

Analyst View: Attention remains focused on support at 52,670. A break lower could expose downside targets at 52,395 and 52,023.

Bias: Under Pressure

  • Resistance: 29627 / 29757
  • Support: 29422 / 29319

Technology stocks weakened for a second consecutive session as investors positioned cautiously ahead of U.S. inflation data and Apple’s product launch.

Analyst View: The index again failed to break above 29,655, limiting bullish momentum. Key support remains near the 10-day moving average at around 29,290, while Apple’s event may shape near-term sentiment.

Bias: Under Pressure

  • Resistance: 79,252 / 79,979
  • Support: 77,840 / 77,140

Bitcoin fell on Tuesday as rising oil prices and stronger expectations of Fed tightening dampened risk appetite.

Analyst View: BTC/USD has closed lower for two consecutive sessions and has broken below key daily moving averages, indicating mounting downside pressure. The focus now shifts to whether prices revisit this month’s lows.

Bias: Under Pressure
